Another Side of Brother Ali

On our way to catch Aquatennial fireworks, we were pleasantly surprised to stumble upon Brother Ali's performance at the One Day In July festival on an otherwise quiet street in Minneapolis' North Loop. We approached from behind the stage.

On the Map - Twin Cities Week on MTV2

I was pleasantly surprised to learn that local acts are invading MTV2 this week. Lots of coverage for Rhymesayers like Atmosphere, Brother Ali and P.O.S. as they talk Soundset, Fifth Element and the local scene. Tapes 'n Tapes are all over this thing too, talking about why they love it here despite the winters. Amen brothers.

This is great but it leaves me wondeing, how did a group like Solid Gold not make it on? They've been called the local MGMT. Seems right up MTV2's alley.

There's also a 19-video playlist featuring the Replacements, Dylan, the above-mentioned artists, et al. Nothing too surprising but nice to see regardless.
